◎简 介
士官威尔・蒙哥马利（本・福斯特 Ben Foster 饰）刚完成在伊拉克的驻守任务负伤回国，尽管出院后与女友凯莉（吉娜・马隆 Jena Malone 饰）度过了愉快的一天，二人终于分手。由于役期未满，威尔被调派到了“伤亡通知”服务中心，在上尉托尼・斯通（伍迪・哈里森 Woody Harrelson 饰）手下任职。在执行伤亡通知任务的过程中，威尔与托尼遇到了各种状况，包括被情绪激动的亲属殴打辱骂。在向奥利维娅・皮特森（萨曼莎・莫顿Samantha Morton 饰）传达她丈夫的死讯时，威尔担心坚强外表下孤儿寡母的奥利维娅无法承受，事后多次照顾帮助她母子，二人逐渐产生好感。但托尼却对威尔处处违反“伤亡通知行为守则”的做法不满，在一次冲突过后，二人终于说出了内心长久压抑着的深切伤痛。
